Rules in Scoring reflects the types of events that are important in determining visitor value and the specific value assigned to each event occurrence.

Our Scoring tool is highly flexible. If you have a variety of products or different markets, you can setup as many scoring programs as you need. In each scoring program, you can set various rules (events) to score your website visitors based on their actions performed on your website or cross-channel behaviours such as email opens and clicks that are automatically tracked.

You can combine Scoring with other Targeting Rules such as Visitor profile values (e.g. geolocation, gender, age, etc) to deliver highly targeted messages, offers and content to qualifying visitors.

You can also use lead scores to trigger various targeted actions. For example, you can create a Targeting Action that automatically sends an email inviting the lead to participate in a sales consultation or product demo once he or she crosses a threshold.

Establish a threshold rule for your Scoring program that will enable you to automatically route leads to Sales or trigger a targeted action. A Scoring threshold can help your Marketing team create better leads and help your Sales Team convert more leads by focusing their efforts on the highest quality leads.

To establish a threshold:

  1. Click Target from the top menu bar, select Targeting Rules and click New Targeting Rule.

  2. The "Targeting Rules" window will then appear, click on the Visitor::Scoring category and select Scoring.

  3. Select the Scoring Rule from the drop down and enter the threshold value in the text box.

  4. Click Save to add the new Targeting Rule.

Info

You can further refine your Scoring rule by adding more criteria from any of the several categories. See Categories for Rules for more information.

Info

Although you have now created a new Scoring Rule and a Targeting Threshold, no actions will take place on your website until you have also created a Targeted Action.

How does Scoring Calculate the Score?

calc

When calculating the score for each visit, Scoring counts the Event(s) specified in each rule every time the visitor meets the rule criteria during the visit.. For example, when a visitor views the same product page multiple times in the same visit, Scoring grants the score specified for that Event each time. If the same visitor visits the same product page in a later visit, Scoring counts the Event again and adds it to the visitor's total score.
