What is Geofencing?
Geofences allow you to create location-based triggers around a predefined geographic area. Think of it as a virtual fence around your store location, local airport, a concert hall or any other venue. When your mobile app users exit or enter the fenced area, they will automatically receive a Push Notification message on their phone. Geofencing is a powerful feature that enables marketers to target their customers based on their location, increasing foot traffic and engaging them in real-time.
How does Geofencing work?
Step 1: Setup Geofences
Geofences are created using an interactive map. Enter the location you want to target, decide how wide your radius should be and create a virtual perimeter to be used as a geofence.
Step 2: Create Geofencing Campaign
- Create your message – Make sure to include linkage between the message and the proximity to the sender (e.g. "You are near..") to increase location awareness.
- Choose which geofences you want to include in your campaign.
- Define your audience – Use all the customer data (behavioural, historical, demographic) you have collected to create dynamic segments by combining targeting criteria using "and" / "or" logical operators.
- Choose trigger event – You can choose to send your campaign to app users as they enter, spend a given amount of time, or exit the fenced area.
- Add tracking parameters to track how many people received, opened your messages. You can also track how efficient your marketing campaign is bringing visitors to your website o mobile app, how well they convert and how much revenue they bring.
- Set frequency capping – Avoid over messaging your customers and limit the number of Push Notifications your users will get in a specified amount of time.
- Schedule your campaign – Set a duration for your Geofencing Push Notifications to be sent.
- Activate your campaign and you are good to go!
